Book M, Volume 3, pages 306–307 (Book 65, p. 306) [Page 306] For and in Consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred & Fifty Dollars ($250.00) to me cash in hand paid receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged I Anderson Bryant have this day bargained & sold and do by these presents grant bargain sell transfer & convey unto The Chattanooga & Lookout Mountain Rail Way Company a corporation duly chartered and organized under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Tennessee a Right of Way for its Rail Road through the lands now occupied by me as a home place on the top of Lookout Mountain in the 17th Civil Dist of Hamilton County Tennessee and described as follows to wit. Begining at the Holman(?) Spring thence running up the hollow to the South East corner of the Orchard in front of the House owned by Hunt thence a Westerly course up the hollow to a small bluff thence across in a southerly course to the center of a hollow to the line between McCallie, Cooke & S. Rogers(?) thence down the hollow and with its meanders to the beginning containing three acres more or less being the same land sold to me by Sallie Morbit Aug 19th 1878 by deed recorded in Registers office of Hamilton County Tennessee in Book F Vol 2 page 279. The Right of Way of land herein conveyed is a strip of land fifty (50) feet in width extending through the land aforesaid the center line of said strip of land begining at Station No 58 in the South line of the above described land said station being a station in the line of the Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain Rail Road as located and adopted running thence in a Northerly direction on a uniform curve of 4° six hundred and five (605) feet to Station No 64+05 of said Rail Road in the North line of the said before described lands, said strip of land herein conveyed extending twenty five (25) feet in width on each side of the line above described. A small plat [interlined: or map] of the land herein conveyed is hereto attached for more accurate description and is made a part hereof. [Plat sketch at left margin — see description below.] To have and to hold the same to the said grantee its successors and assigns forever in fee simple. I covenant with the said Grantee that I am lawfully seized and possessed of the land herein conveyed have full power and lawful authority to sell and convey the same that the title is clear free and unincumbered and that I will forever warrant and defend the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever. And I Louisa Bryant wife of the said Anderson Bryant in consideration of the premises do hereby release [struck: and] relinquish and convey unto the said grantee all right title interest claim or demand I may or can have to homestead or dower or any other interest in or upon the land herein conveyed.
